Peewee Hawks are International Silverstick Champs!
The Tweed Peewee Hawks travelled to Forest Ontario this past weekend and won five straight games to earn the title of International Silverstick C Champions.

Teams from all over North America had to earn their way to this International tournament by winning their regional tournament. Tweed gained entry with their victory at the Pembroke regional qualifier.

In their opening game they downed the Long Island New York Arrows by a score of 6-1. Game #2 pitted the Hawks against the Dundalk Storm. The Hawks would prevail by a score of 4-1. Day number two, in their final game of the round robin Tweed would face the undefeated Lambton Shores Predators. The host Lambton Shores outscored their opponents by a combined score of 14-0 on day one so the Hawks knew they would be in a fight for first in their division. The boys really pushed the pace and did not give the hosts any room to skate. The game would end with an 8-0 victory for Tweed.

After going 3-0 in the round robin Tweed would face the Kinkardine Regional Champion West Grey Warriors in the semi finals. It was a hard fought chippy game but the Hawks once again came away with a big 6-1 victory.

This set up a matchup with the Watford Regional champ North Middlesex Stars in the Finals. In a back and forth hard played game the Hawks opened the scoring late in the first period. The game would stay that way until two minutes into the third when the Hawks scored to take a 2-0 lead. North Middlesex would not back down. With three and a half minutes remaining the Stars would net one of their own. This set up an exciting finish. With the North Middlesex goalie on the bench Tweed managed to hold their ground and prevail with a 2-1 win.

Next up for the Peewee Hawks are the OMHA Playdowns and a first round matchup with the Mariposa Lightning.
